What is Sports Massage and Sports Rehabilitation good for?

The initial session consists of an assessment involving medical history taking, physical examination, determining a treatment plan and carrying out of treatment.

Treatment usually involves a combination of soft tissue work, spinal and peripheral mobilizations, exercise programs (including pilates exercises) and postural re-education.

Soft tissue work- sports /remedial massage trigger points (TPT), myofascial release and muscle energy techniques (MET).

Sports / Remedial massage can help alleviate muscle tension, joint stiffness and relieve pain. The physiological benefits of massage include improved blood and lymph circulation, muscle relaxation, and general well being.

These, in turn, lead to removal of waste products and better cell nutrition, normalization and greater elasticity of tissues, deactivation of trigger points and faster healing of injuries. It all adds up to relief from soreness and stiffness, better flexibility and reduces potential of future injury.
